Title
Resolution establishing a City of Milwaukee email account termination policy for City email accounts.
Analysis
This resolution establishes a City email account termination policy. Through this policy the City will establish a process whereby City email accounts are terminated in a prompt manner upon separation of an employee.
Body
Whereas, The City Information Management Committee is responsible for policy and management of the City’s information resources; and
Whereas, Prompt termination of unnecessary email accounts helps to maintain security procedures for departing employees and reduce cost of email licensing; and
Whereas, The City remains committed to enabling employees to do their jobs as efficiently as possible through the use of technology; and
Whereas, The City Information Management Committee has prepared a City email account termination policy, which was approved by the committee on December 10, 2015; and
Whereas, The scope of this policy includes all City-issued email accounts; and
Whereas, Through this policy, the City will establish the processes and responsibilities for promptly removing access to employee email accounts; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that a City email account termination policy, a copy of which is attached to this file, is adopted as City policy.
