Body
Whereas, It is the Department of Public Works (DPW's) goal to provide innovative and effective stormwater management measures in the reconstruction/extension of Canal Street and redevelopment of the Menomonee Valley; and

Whereas, DPW, DCD, and stakeholders, have developed a comprehensive stormwater management plan employing strategically located bioretention facilities to effectively treat stormwater generated on both public and private lands in the Menomonee Valley; and

Whereas, Bioretention is an emerging technology that utilizes a permeable soil medium planted with native vegetation designed to absorb and filter stormwater runoff while maximizing evapotranspiration thus improving quality and reducing quantity of stormwater discharged into the environment; and

Whereas, Given the magnitude of the Stormwater Management Plan for the Menomonee Valley, it is DPW's and DCD's intent to implement the plan incrementally as opportunities occur; and

Whereas, The 35th Street to Miller Park portion of the stormwater management plan shall be implemented in conjunction with the ongoing CMC Shops TID site preparation; and
