This resolution authorizes the proper City officials to enter into Agreements which would provide funds in the amounts of up to $8,000 for replacing the wearing surfaces of hollow sidewalks at 2007 and 2039 North Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive so that they will conform with the streetscape improvements previously approved for and constructed in this project.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee ("City") has approved an ongoing program providing streetscape and related public infrastructure improvements which are intended to promote neighborhood and commercial revitalization/development activities along North Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive; and

Whereas, The King Drive Improvement Program (Account No. 31-630-0001) provides funds specifically for the replacement of sidewalk slabs, the installation of granite paver strips, pedestrian lighting fixtures, street trees with grates and guards or planter boxes in lieu thereof, and other appropriate streetscape amenities for the purpose of promoting private investment and encouraging greater pedestrian usage within the improvement area; and

Whereas, Certain property owners use hollow-walk vaults in the public sidewalk adjacent to the streetscape project and maintain these vaults as a permissible encroachment allowed by Section 245-5 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances and by permits granted by the City; and

Whereas, It is desirable to replace the wearing surfaces of these vaults to conform in design and appearance with the streetscape improvements installed on North Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive between West Walnut Street and West Garfield Avenue; and
