Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of The Big Read Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Public Library to accept and fund The Big Read Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in the amount of $41,982 with a City share of $21,982 and a grantor share of $20,000. The purpose of the project is to engage the community in the reading of a literary classic.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the National Endowment for the Arts for the purpose of engaging the community in the reading of a literary classic; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 01/01/08 to 06/30/08 would cost $41,982 of which $21,982 (52%) would be provided by the City and $20,000 (48%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Public Library shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2008 Special Revenue-Grant
and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled The Big Read Grant:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and
