Analysis
Adoption of this resolution by at least two-thirds vote of the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee will approve the blight designation of the subject City-owned properties for acquisition by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee utilizing the Spot Acquisition procedures set forth in Section 66.1333, Wisconsin Statutes, and will allow the City to assign to the Redevelopment Authority the City’s Option to Purchase.

Whereas, By adoption of File No. 040466, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee (“Common Council”) approved the surplus declaration of the City-owned properties at 2941-55, 2963 and 3009 North Humboldt Boulevard and authorized an Option to Purchase with Alterra Coffee Roasters (“Alterra”) for industrial and commercial development; and

Whereas, The property at 3009 North Humboldt Boulevard had environmental impacts that were remediated using a Brownfield Clean Up Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) that was provided to the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee (“Authority”) for disbursement; and

Whereas, The EPA is requiring that the Authority rather than the City of Milwaukee (“City”) own this property for purposes of the grant; and

Whereas, All properties to be sold to Alterra should be in common ownership for preparation of closing documents; and
