Anne Pogoresc, 414 S. 2nd St., Milwaukee, WI 53204. She objected to renewal of the Tavern Dance license. She testified to witnessing at the club constant police presence, flashing lights, streets being closed at night, and people bloodied and carried to their vehicles. She said that she experienced these issues on a weekly basis under the previous business concept of Club Fuego. She added that customers are turned away from her own bar, called Tony's Tavern, due to the activities of Club Fuego. Robert Weiss, 2430 Mayfair Dr., Brookfield, WI 53005. He said that he is the owner of a restaurant, called Shakers, right next door at 422 S. 2nd St. He testified to witnessing a clientele and business plan change at the club but felt there isn't enough time to allow for the change to yield positive results. He added that his front restaurant window was broken from an altercation that stemmed from the club and that he accepted Mr. Salem's payment for the damaged window. Individuals appearing in neutrality: Robert Klemp, 524 S. 2nd St., Milwaukee, WI 53204. He said that he is the owner of Fuzion Cafe & Lounge at 524 S. 2nd St. near the club. He testified to being concerned that the business will revert back to the previous business plan, Club Fuego. Victor Ray, Walker's Point Association, 1137 S. 3rd St., Milwaukee, WI 53204. He testified, on behalf of the association, to meeting with Mr. Salem and residents on September 19, 2011 with the position to shut the club down. He added that Mr. Salem is trying to change climate, but old patrons are coming back. He requested for the committee to issue a warning. Atty. Whitcomb said that Mr. Salem had shut down the club and reopened with a new business plan, Loft Ultra Lounge, in response to issues reflected on the police report. Individuals appearing in support: Michael A. I. Whitcomb, 633 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53203. He testified to being counsel to Mr. Salem early on before his son took over as representation. He said that he told Mr. Salem that he could reopen after the meeting with the Walker's Point Association. He said he was unable to contact the local alderman due to being out of town. Mr. Whitcomb added that the licensee did not have the skill set to handle the high volume of customers and business activities at the club. Christina Limbach, 2260 N. Summit Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202. She said that she is a V.I.P. server at the club. She testified to witnessing a business oriented clientele ages 25 to 30 years old, no big crowds, and efforts to change the clientele from the previous operation. Ald. Kovac moved to make photos, submitted by Atty. Whitcomb, as part of the record. There were no objections. Ald. James Witkowiak, Aldermanic District 12, was present in opposition. He testified that Mr. Salem told him that the club was going to reasonably be turned into a restaurant and that the previous counsel, Mr. Whitcomb, told him that the club would be shut down indefinitely and not reopened. Ald. Witkowiak added that he opposed based upon the police report and neighborhood testimony. He requested for the committee to not renew the Tavern Dance license. Atty. Whitcomb requested to decrease the capacity of the club to 200. Mr. Whitcomb requested to hold the Tavern Dance license renewal application until the new public entertainment ordinance takes effect March 1, 2012 to address the entertainment operations of the club. Ald. Zielinski moved to amend the Plan of Operation to reflect a self imposed capacity of 200. There were no objections. Ald.
