Title

Analysis

This resolution authorizes City officials to issue an occupancy permit to Mental Health America of Wisconsin (MHAW), allowing their contractor to occupy the east/west alley in the block bounded by North 4^th Street, West Wells Street, Old World Third Street and West Wisconsin Avenue.

Body

Whereas, The MHAW building at 734 North 4^th Street must be demolished due to a failing foundation; and

Whereas, MHAW has requested to occupy the entire east/west alley adjacent to the site; and

Whereas, MHAW will be responsible to contact all affected party owners and businesses informing them that the alley will be closed; and

Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works may approve temporary occupancy of up to one-third of the width of the alley while temporary use beyond that point must the approved by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to issue a permit to MHAW allowing occupancy of the entire width of the east/west alley bounded by North 4^th Street, West Wells Street, Old World Third Street and West Wisconsin Avenue through August 2013.
