-Analysis-
This resolution authorizes settlement of razing costs for the property at 3423-29 West Vliet Street. The owner has agreed to pay $53,000.00 on a demolition charge of $78,128.29.
BODY:
Whereas, The Common Council has made it a priority for the City of Milwaukee to collect razing costs through in personam actions against property owners who have not reimbursed the City for its costs; and
Whereas, One of the properties where the demolition occurred is located at 3423-29 West Vliet Street in the City of Milwaukee and is owned by David Keehn; and
Whereas, The razing costs balance amounts to $78,128.29; and
Whereas, The owner of the property, David Keehn, was prepared to perform the demolition required by the City through a private contractor, but was told the City could demolish the building on the property for $29,000.00; and
Whereas, After hazardous material cleanup and asbestos removal, the actual cost of the demolition was raised to $78,128.29 which was more than the $45,000.00 bid the property owner had obtained privately; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Common Council accept the total of $53,000.00 as a total payment for the demolition and collection costs.
