Resolution relating to the City’s Private Ambulance Service Agreements with Bell Ambulance, Inc. and Curtis-Universal, Inc.
Analysis
This resolution extends the City’s existing Private Ambulance Service Provider Agreements for emergency medical services as the City works to negotiate a new Private Ambulance Service Agreement.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department entered into Private Ambulance Service Provider Agreements for emergency medical services with Bell Ambulance, Inc and Curtis-Universal, Inc on December 19, 2017; and
Whereas, the 2017 Provider Agreements were amended on October 25th, 2021, February 14th, 2022, March 7th, 2023 and February 27th, 2024; and
Whereas, The parties are currently negotiating a new Provider Agreement, the details of which are not expected to be finalized prior to the expiration of the current agreement; and
Whereas, A further amendment to the 2017 Provider Agreements is necessary to extend the existing agreements, until the new Provider Agreement is finalized; and
Whereas, Further amendments to the 2017 Provider Agreements are in the best interests of the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Milwaukee; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Fifth Amendment to each Private Ambulance Service Provider Agreement for emergency medical services between the City of Milwaukee and Bell Ambulance, Inc. and Curtis-Universal, Inc. is approved in a form substantially similar to the agreement attached to this file; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Fire Chief is authorized to execute such agreements.
