Resolution approving a lease agreement with Riverworks Development Corporation for the Beerline Trail between North Bremen Street on the south and the City limits on the north, in the 1st and 6th Aldermanic Districts.
Analysis
This resolution approves the lease agreement with Riverworks Development Corporation for the Beerline Trail between North Bremen Street on the south and the City limits on the north.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) owns multiple parcels of real property between North Bremen Street and West Capitol Drive, more commonly known as the Beerline Trail; and

Whereas, Staff from the City’s Department of Public Works and the City Attorney’s Office met with representatives of the Riverworks Development Corporation (RDC) and negotiated the terms of a long-term lease for this portion of the Beerline Trail; and

Whereas, The proposed lease agreement with Riverworks Development Corporation permits RDC to program activities on the trail in consideration of it assuming maintenance responsibilities for the trail; and

Whereas, The City has negotiated a lease with the board of the Riverworks Development Corporation, a copy of which is attached to this file; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the lease agreement with the board of the Riverworks Development Corporation for the properties known as the Beerline Trail between North Bremen Street on the south and the City limits on the north is approved; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works, or designee, is authorized to execute the lease with the board of the Riverworks Development Corporation, and any other necessary documents, upon final approval of the lease by the Common Council; and, be it
