Substitute resolution authorizing a contract extension for Long Term Disability Insurance benefits with Standard Insurance.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Department of Employee Relations to enter into a 2-year contract extension with Standard Insurance for Long Term Disability Insurance benefits for 3,600 eligible City employees for the period January 1, 2006-December 31, 2007.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Department of Employee Relations (DER), with Willis Corp. of Wisconsin, has negotiated an extension of the current Standard Insurance contract for Long Term Disability Insurance benefits; and

 

Whereas, The contract extension does not include any additional cost in 2006 for the City of Milwaukee, or any additional cost for employees enrolled in the 120-day and 90-day buy-downs based on experience of those plans; and

 

Whereas The contract extension does include a cost increase in 2006 for employees enrolled in the 60-day buy-down based on the experience of that plan; and

 

Whereas, DER intends to do a request for proposal in 2007 for Long Term Disability benefits in 2008; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that DER is authorized to enter into a contract extension with Standard Insurance for the 3,600 City employees eligible for Long Term Disability Insurance benefits for the period January 1, 2006-December 31, 2007.
