Title
Resolution authorizing an easement with Wisconsin Electric Power Company on City of Milwaukee property at 1225 South Carferry Drive, in the 14th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes an easement for electrical facilities located on City-owned property at 1225 South Carferry Drive.
Body.
Whereas, Wisconsin Electric Power Company doing business as We Energies (“We Energies”) is requesting a permanent underground easement (“Easement”) on the City-owned property at 1225 South Carferry Drive (“Property”); and

Whereas, The Easement will document We Energies’ rights, as well as the location of its electrical facilities existing on the Property; and

Whereas, On December 17, 2024, the Common Council adopted File Number 241244 authorizing Port Milwaukee to accept and enter into an agreement for a U.S. Department of Transportation Port Infrastructure Development Program grant to expand the Agricultural Maritime Export Facility (“AMEF”), which is operated by The DeLong Co., Inc. (“DeLong”), a tenant at Port Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The electrical facilities were relocated at the request of Port Milwaukee due to conflict with the expansion of the AMEF and all costs associated with the relocation were paid by DeLong; and

Whereas, A copy of the Easement, survey and related map is attached to this Common Council File; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) shall not require compensation for the easement because the easement provides electrical service for shore power for vessels docked in the Municipal Mooring Basin and docked vessels pay wharfage per the Port Tariff plus electrical service charges for long-term usage; and

Whereas, Port Milwaukee and the City Attorney’s Office reviewed the proposed easement documents; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the easement documents at its meeting on October 16, 2025; now, therefo...
