- Analysis -
The code currently prohibits consumption of alcohol beverages or possession of opened alcohol beverage containers upon any public parking structure or public parking surface lot.
This ordinance:
1. Provides that the common council may grant a waiver by resolution from the prohibition relating to alcohol beverages for certain special events.
2. Defines "special event" to mean any planned extraordinary occurrence on a public parking structure or surface lot, sponsored or authorized by the owner or management, including but not limited to festivals, block parties and tailgate parties.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 106-2.1-1.5 of the code is created to read:
106-2.1. Drinking Upon Public Parking Structures and Public Parking Surface Lots.
1.5. EXCEPTION. The common council may grant a waiver by resolution from the prohibition under sub. 1 for certain special events.
Part 2. Section 106-2.1-2-c of the code is created to read:
2. DEFINITIONS.
c. "Special event" means any planned extraordinary occurrence on a public parking structure or public parking surface lot, sponsored or authorized by the owner or management of the structure or lot, including but not limited to festivals, block parties and tailgate parties.
