This resolution expresses the Common Council's determination that the property located at 3249-3275 South 18th Street, commonly known as South Day Care Center of St. Joseph's, Inc., and owned by the Felician Sisters of the United States of America - Chicago Providence, should not be designated as a historic structure.
BODY:
Whereas, St. Joseph's Orphanage and Convent (South Day Care Center), 3249-3275 South 18th Street, was nominated for designation as a historic structure pursuant to s. 308-81-8 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and
 
Whereas, On January, 18, 2000, the Historic Preservation Commission held a public hearing on the issue of designating the structure as historic and voted not to designate the structure as historic; and
 
Whereas, The Historic Preservation Commission's decision was based on the failure of St. Joseph's Orphanage and Convent to meet the criteria specified in the historic preservation ordinance; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council determines that St. Joseph's Orphanage and Convent should not be designated as a historic structure.
