Whereas, Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin, serving as the economic engine for the state; and
Whereas, It is critical to the success and stability of the City to use best financial practices; and
Whereas, It is essential for the City to produce a long-term strategic fiscal roadmap; and
Whereas, Stable and predictable public finances will be the foundation of any future success of the City; and
Whereas, The Public Policy Forum has produced outstanding work regarding the City’s revenue structure and budgetary impacts, serving as a basis for financial planning; and
Whereas, More work is necessary to create a plan to outline specific goals and reforms necessary over the next five years; and
Whereas, The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business Executive Master of Business Administration program has offered to develop a five-year fiscal plan for the City; and
Whereas, The size and potential impact of a five-year fiscal plan make such a plan a suitable project for the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business Executive Master of Business Administration program; and
Whereas, Cities, such as Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Toronto have begun implementing long-term financial strategies to ensure successful communities; and
