Substitute resolution relating to the inclusion of the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee’s @Promise Program as a participating recipient of donations in future City Combined Giving campaigns.

This resolution directs the proper City officials to take the actions necessary to ensure that the @Promise Program administered by the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee is included as a participating recipient of donations in the City of Milwaukee Combined Giving Campaign.

Whereas, The City’s Combined Giving Campaign is an annual fund drive in which City employees pool their resources to improve the quality of life in the Milwaukee community by contributing to umbrella groups of local nonprofit agencies, individual agencies within those umbrella groups, various designated unaffiliated agencies or other qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide health or human services in Wisconsin; and
Whereas, The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee developed the @Promise Program, which invites qualified participants to complete multi-week paid training courses that are geared toward assisting participants with their transition to self-sufficiency by employing these individuals in various positions and furthering their education in an academic program at a higher education institution; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are directed to take the actions necessary to ensure that the @Promise Program is included as a participating recipient of donations in future City of Milwaukee Combined Giving Campaigns.
