Resolution relating to the Milwaukee Fire Department's acceptance and expenditure of a grant from the Wisconsin Homeland Security Grant Program FY2003 Part II for Regional Emergency Response Teams.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to accept and expend grant funds of $499,899 from the Wisconsin Homeland Security Grant Program FY2003 Part II for Regional Emergency Response Teams. The funds would be used to purchase equipment to enhance heavy rescue response capabilities in the metro Milwaukee area. Common Council File Number 031123, adopted on December 19, 2003, authorized the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for grant funds of no more than $500,000 from the Wisconsin Homeland Security Grant Program FY2003 Part II for Regional Emergency Response Teams.

Body
Whereas, The state's Office of Justice Assistance offers funds through its Wisconsin Homeland Security Grant Program FY2003 Part II for Regional Emergency Response Teams and the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) is eligible for the funds; and

Whereas, The MFD would use the funds to establish a heavy rescue response capability unit in the metro Milwaukee area; and

Whereas, The MFD would use the funds to purchase personal protective equipment, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear equipment (CBRNE) search rescue equipment and CBRNE incident response vehicles; and

Whereas, Common Council File Number 031123, adopted on December 19, 2003, authorized the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for grant funds of no more than $500,000 from the Wisconsin Homeland Security Grant Program FY2003 Part II for Regional Emergency Response Teams; now, therefore be it
