Title

Resolution amending Common Council File Number 200726 relating to the 2021 rate for the Street Lighting Fee.

Analysis

This resolution amends the recently-adopted 2021 rate for the new Street Lighting Fee, decreasing it by $0.01 to an even dollar amount of $1 per foot of street frontage for both residential and nonresidential property to be billed quarterly.

Body

Whereas, On November 6, 2020, the Common Council passed File Number 200723, an ordinance relating to establishment of a city street lighting fee; and

 

Whereas, On November 6, 2020, the Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 200726, a substitute resolution relating to implementation of a Street Lighting Fee; and

 

Whereas, Due to technological parameters, the Street Lighting Fee requires a dollar amount that is divisible by 4 without using fractions of a penny; now, therefore, be it

                     

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Common Council File Number 200726, adopted November 6, 2020, relating to implementation of a Street Lighting Fee, is amended by replacing Items 1 and 2 in the “Resolved” clause with the following:

 

“1. Residential property: $1 per foot of street frontage - for residential property with multiple street frontage (corner lots), the shortest side shall be used for billing purposes.

 

2. Nonresidential property: $1 per foot of total street frontage.; and, be it”
