Title
Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the 2014-15 Victims and Suspects of Firearm Violence Grant from the Joyce Foundation.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the Victims and Suspects of Firearm Violence Grant from the Joyce Foundation in the amount of $190,000 provided by the grantor. The goal of this project is to improve our understanding of risk and protective factors for gun violence by linking multiple data sources on the life course and community context of individuals both involved and not involved in gun violence.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Victims and Suspects of Firearm Violence Grant from the Joyce Foundation in order to improve our understanding of risk and protective factors for gun violence for the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 9/1/14 to 2/29/16 would cost $190,000 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Joyce Foundation is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2014 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Funds, the following amount for the project titled Victims and Suspects of Firearm Violence Grant:
