Title
Substitute resolution authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a State/Municipal Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) relative to the City's local review costs associated with the reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a State/Municipal Project Agreement with the WISDOT to cover the City's local review costs associated with the reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange. These costs, estimated to be $100,000.00 will occur primarily over the next 18 months and may extend on a limited basis to the end of 2007. This resolution also authorizes and directs the City Comptroller to transfer funds to the project subaccount for the various costs associated with this project.
Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) is preparing to reconstruct the Marquette Interchange, generally including I-43 from approximately West Walnut Street to West National Avenue I-794 from approximately the Milwaukee River to the High Rise Bridge, and I-94 from the High Rise to approximately North 26th Street commencing in late 2003 and continuing through the end of 2007; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works, as well as other City departments, has expended considerable time and effort in working with the WISDOT in Conceptual and Preliminary Design of the Interchange and its impacts on City streets and Facilities over the last 2 years in order to best protect the City's and its citizen's interests resulting in a design concept satisfactory to the WISDOT, Milwaukee County, the City of Milwaukee, its citizens and most of all, the Central Business District community; and
