Title

Analysis

This resolution directs Health Department to examine and recommend changes in lead-abatement contractor requirements.

Body

Whereas, The Adopted 2023 City Budget includes Amendment 18, a footnote directing the Health Department to examine and recommend changes in lead-abatement contractor requirements; and

Whereas, Lead abatement must be conducted by qualified lead-abatement contractors; and

Whereas, It is expected a thorough examination of the requirements for lead-abatement contractors will result in recommendations for changes which increase the pool of qualified lead-abatement contractors by supporting individuals and firms seeking to enter the industry; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department is directed to examine and recommend changes in lead-abatement contractor requirements; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Health Department shall report its findings and recommendations to the Common Council by March 31, 2023.
