Analysis
This resolution authorizes acceptance of a gift to the City from the Sanfelippo Landscaping Company. The company proposes to contribute the plant materials associated with landscaping the traffic round-about located at the south end of the new 6th Street bridge. The City, through the Forestry Section of the Department of Public Works, would design the landscape improvements and install them. It is anticipated that the landscaping would be completed in the Spring of 2004.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee, in conjunction with the State of Wisconsin, has recently completed construction of a new 6th Street bridge across the Menomonee Valley; and

Whereas, The southern end of the bridge terminates at a round-about which forms an entry point to the city's near South Side in general and the Walker's Point neighborhood in particular; and

Whereas, The round-about, constructed as part of the bridge project, is currently landscaped only with grass; and

Whereas, As a highly visible focal point for the community, the 6th Street round-about merits a more substantial landscape treatment; and

Whereas, The Sanfelippo Landscape Company has offered to donate plant materials for the purpose of implementing a landscape plan that the City's Public Works' Department (DPW) Forestry Section would prepare; and

Whereas, This generous offer by the Sanfelippo Landscape Company will result in dramatic visual enhancement of this key location and will greatly benefit the entire community; and

Whereas, DPW will perform ongoing maintenance of the round-about's landscaping once installed; now, therefore, be it
