This resolution approves the transfer of $3,000 from the Municipal Art Fund to a Subaccount as the Milwaukee Arts Board share in co-sponsoring a Public Arts Seminar with the Wisconsin Arts Board and hosted by the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. This seminar will explore the role of public art in public space and public life today.
BODY:
Whereas, Section 2-28 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances provides for the setting aside of funds for works of art to be placed in City buildings and public facilities; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Arts Board is recommending that funds be used for the purpose of further educating Wisconsin Artists, architects, City planners and government representatives about the role and benefits of public art today; and
Whereas, The aforementioned seminar will assist the Milwaukee Arts Board in its role of attaining reasonable diversity of selecting of and placement of public art in the City of Milwaukee; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that funds in the amount of $3,000 be transferred from the Municipal Art Fund Parent Purpose Account No. 31-002-0001 to Subaccount No. 31-002-1811 for the purpose of co-sponsoring a Public Arts Seminar.
