Analysis
This resolution authorizes entering into an Agreement for the construction of a bio-retention project at the Lloyd Street School for educational and environmental purposes. The City and MPS are collaborating on a pilot demonstration project to build a 12,360 square-foot basin, which is to be used as a sustainable education site and to reduce stormwater run-off from the asphalt playground.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee by adoption of File No. 040401 on July 27, 2004, authorized application, acceptance and funding of a $100,000 United States Environmental Protection Agency Demonstration Grant for the reconstruction of the Lloyd Street Playfield to a more natural landscape environment and also to provide public education and awareness of the new environmental aspects of the playfield and its surroundings; and
 
Whereas, To allow for construction of this pilot demonstration project, the City and MPS must enter into an Intergovernmental Cooperation Project Agreement ("Agreement"), a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File; and
 
Whereas, MPS agrees to provide in-kind services as provided for in said Agreement; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Intergovernmental Cooperation Project Agreement for construction of a bio-retention basin at the Lloyd Street Playfield is approved and that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to execute said Agreement on behalf of the City.
