Analysis
This substitute resolution authorizes the transfer of $250,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund and $250,000 from the Business Improvement District Fund for extended streetscaping activities along West Wisconsin Avenue from 16th to 28th Street. Such streetscaping improvements will include pavement and pedestrian lighting enhancements as well as other proposed amenities.
Body
Whereas, On December 17, 1996, via File No. 961286, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee approved a Development and Maintenance Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the Board of Business Improvement District No. 10 ("BID No. 10") for a street lighting improvement project on a portion of North 27th Street; and

Whereas, Said street lighting enhancement project and other BID No. 10 activities have spurred economic development in the surrounding area; and

Whereas, BID No. 10 is proposing to extend its streetscaping efforts in the Avenues West area along West Wisconsin Avenue from 16th to 28th Street; and

Whereas, The 2001 Capital Budget for the City of Milwaukee contains $250,000 in the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund and $250,000 in the Business Improvement District Fund; and

Whereas, The purpose of the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund is to pay for streetscape improvements such as pedestrian lighting and other public way improvements along commercial streets; and
