Analysis

This resolution directs the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works to develop and publish a list of providers offering alley snow-plowing service to city residents. The list is to be updated on a continuous basis, as new service providers become available and as old providers become unavailable.

Body

Whereas, It is difficult for Milwaukee residents to drive in their alleyways after a snowfall if the snow is left unplowed; and

Whereas, The City does not provide snow-removal service for alleyways; and

Whereas, City residents are responsible for snow removal in their alleyways; and

Whereas, City residents are left to conduct their own searches for alley snow-removal services, which can often prove difficult; and

Whereas, The City is capable of collecting names and contact information of providers of snow-plowing services for residential alleyways; and 

Whereas, The City desires to assist residents with locating alleyway snow-plowing service providers in consideration of Milwaukee’s often long, cold, and snowy winters; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is directed to develop and publish a list of providers offering alley snow-plowing service for city residents; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the list shall be updated continuously to add new businesses and remove defunct businesses as needed.
