Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Community Tree Planting Demonstration Project Grant. (Forestry)
ANLS:
This original resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works Forestry Division to accept and fund a Community Tree Planting Demonstration Grant project/program from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $100,000 with no city share and a grantor share of $100,000. The purpose of the project/program is to improve Milwaukee's urban forest canopy cover through partnership with the Milwaukee Community Service Corps (MCSC) and Greening Milwaukee.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to develop a community tree planting demonstration project to improve Milwaukee's urban forest canopy cover through partnerships with the Milwaukee Community Service Corps and Greening Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project/ program over the 1997-1999 state biennium would cost $100,000 of which none would be provided by the city and $100,000(100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Natural Resources is authorized and the Department of Public Works Forestry Division shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Encumber in the parent accounts of the 1998 Special Revenue Accounts-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project/program titled Community Tree Planting Demonstration Project:
