Resolution relative to the cancellation of a special improvement bill placed on the 1995-1997 Tax Rolls. (Infrastructure Services Div.)

- ANALYSIS -
This resolution will cancel a special improvement assessment placed on the 1995-1997 Tax Rolls for 3231 West Vliet Street (Tax Key Number 365-0074-100-1). This property is owned by the United States Postal Service and Federal property is exempt from such assessment.
BODY:
Whereas, The State of Wisconsin was the lead agent in the roadway reconstruction of West Vliet Street between North 27th Street and North 60th Street; and
Whereas, The State, the City of Milwaukee and the abutting property owners shared in the cost of the project and the special improvement bills to the abutting property owners were issued on September 1, 1995; and
Whereas, The property known as 3231 West Vliet Street (Tax Key Number 365-0074-100-1), located within this project, is owned by the United States Postal Service and is thus exempt from assessment; and
Whereas, A special improvement bill in the amount of $2,083.82 was mistakenly issued to the United States Postal Service and should be canceled; and
Whereas, The first of the six installments in the amount of $405.66 including interest was paid by the United States Postal Service and the next two payments totaling $957.15 including interest were placed on the 1996 and 1997 tax rolls and are now delinquent; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers are authorized and directed to amend the 1995-1997 Tax Rolls by canceling $2,083.82 for a special improvement bill, bond number WF8129-001 issued on Tax Key Number 365-0074-100-1; and, be it
