Individuals present: Annie - 3030 N 54th St - said that there are families with children and that she has seen two accidents for reckless driving within 6 months and thanked the committee for the initiative. Borkowski said that this is the very first speed hump at his district and that it was not an easy subject but necessary. Ald. Zamarripa moved approval. 14th Aldermanic District E. Euclid Ave. - S. Individuals against the project: Luke - 2051 S 7th St - said that he lives in the middle of the block and that he does not see the need of it and that it would be an inconvenience for the home owners who park their cars many times at day and that he would like to know more about the postcard survey process because he is positive that many people did not even look at them. Ald. Stamper explained that the process to request a speed hump start with an application and gathering signatures from neighbors and that the postcard survey is done by the alderperson's office. Also said that the postcard says very cleat that if it is not returned, it will be counted as "supporter". Ald. Dimitrijevic said that a total of 28 postcards were mailed out, 8 came back in opposition and 20 in support but that she did not have the breakdown number of how many postcards were mailed back to her office. Individuals in support: Rick Heldt - 2829 S 7th St - said that he submitted photos (attached to the file) of the marks on the pavement of the reckless driving and car accidents and that speed humps will slow the traffic there and that he gathered the signatures that he needed from the neighbors in order to carry the proposal on. Ms. Rutenbeck said that the alderman supports the project and that the postcard survey results are in favor. Ald. Perez moved approval.

This resolution confirms the report of the Commissioner of Public Works, as modified by the Common Council Committee, on projects for which Public Hearings have been held. The resolution authorizes the levying of special assessments and directs the installation and construction of said public improvements. The City cost of these projects approved by this resolution is estimated to be $20,255. The total estimated cost of these projects is $94,400.

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions, determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct and levy special assessments for the following improvements:

1st Aldermanic District

W. Fiebrantz Ave. - N. 17th St. to N. 19th St. (ST211210190) Install traffic calming speed hump(s). (Assessable Reconstruction Paving Fund - $225; Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $500). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $12,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2022 construction season.

2nd Aldermanic District

N. 61st St. - W. Villard Ave. to W. Lawn Ave. (ST211210242) Install traffic calming speed hump(s). (Assessable Reconstruction Paving Fund - $4,065; Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $500). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $16,200. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2022 construction season.
