This substitute resolution authorizes and directs the City Comptroller to transfer additional funds for preliminary engineering work for the improvement of West Fond du Lac Avenue between North 19th Street and North 36th Street. The additional funds are necessary to complete the required preliminary engineering work associated with this project. Its complexity along with other issues, such as public involvement, requires additional funds. The preliminary engineering is eligible for 87.5 percent Federal/State aid. The additional total preliminary engineering work is estimated at $60,000, of which the City's share is $7,500.


BODY:
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted Resolution File Number 890251 on June 6, 1989, authorizing a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for the improvement of West Fond du Lac Avenue (STH 145) between North 19th Street and North 36th Street with Federal/State aid; and

Whereas, Preliminary engineering activities for the project are underway; and

Whereas, A consultant was hired to investigate the various alternatives for improving West Fond du Lac Avenue and his 1996 report recommended reconstructing the existing roadway within its existing width except for channelization at the major intersections; and

Whereas, Negotiations have recently been completed with the consultant to complete the required preliminary engineering activities in accordance with the WISDOT process to implement the recommended alternative; and
