Analysis

This resolution approves and authorizes the donation of one used fire pumper trunk from the City of Milwaukee to the Sister City of Morogoro, Tanzania.

Body

Whereas, Section 310-29 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances governs the control and disposition of obsolete City equipment; and

Whereas, Section 310-29-1-a of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances authorizes the Department of Administration, through the Purchasing Director, to determine the method of disposal of obsolete City property; and

Whereas, Section 310-29-1-b of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances allows a donation if the Purchasing Director believes it would be in the best interest of the City; and

Whereas, The Purchasing Director has approved the donation of one obsolete fire pumper truck to be in the best interests of the City by showing goodwill to our Sister City of Morogoro, Tanzania; and

Whereas, The Chief of the Milwaukee Fire Department is in agreement as to the donation; and

Whereas, A donor is willing to transfer the truck to Morogoro, Tanzania at no cost to the City; and

Whereas, The City Attorney has drafted an agreement which is attached to the file to facilitate the transfer of the truck on an “as is” basis and protecting the City from potential liability; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that it approves an agreement regarding the donation of one used fire pumper trunk from the City of Milwaukee to the Sister City of Morogoro, Tanzania.
