Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of a Transportation Demand Management Grant for the development of a bicycle publicity plan for the City of Milwaukee.
ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works, Infrastructure Services Division to accept and fund a Transportation Demand Management Grant Project from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in the amount of $30,000 with a city share of $6,000 and a grantor share of $24,000. The purpose of the grant is to develop a bicycle publicity plan for the City of Milwaukee that encourages the public to use bicycles for transportation purposes.
BODY
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is eligible for Transportation Demand Management (TDM) grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) to hire a private consultant to develop a bicycle publicity plan that would include detailed strategies and cost estimates for future implementation; and

Whereas, The operation of this TDM grant project from 6/1/98 to 12/31/99 would cost $30,000 of which, $6,000 (20 %) would be provided by the city and $24,000 (80%) would be provided by the grantor; and

Whereas, The WISDOT has submitted a Grant Contract (attachment #1) for the project to be executed by the City of Milwaukee; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to accept and execute a grant contract for the development of a bicycle publicity plan under the 1998 TDM program; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to undertake, or to engage a consultant to undertake, work necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution; and, be it
