Minutes note: Recommendation of renewal with a 10-day suspension of the Class "B" Tavern license of Martin De La Garza for the premises located at 2900 W. Lapham Street ("Kojak's"), in the 8th Ald. District. Written objections have been filed by the licensee. (Committee Vote: 4 Ayes; 1 Noes; Expiration Date: 6-30-00).
Recommendation of renewal with a 15-day suspension of the Class "B" Tavern and Tavern Dance license of Juan J. Jimenez for the premises located at 823 S. Cesar E. Chavez Drive ("Club Malibu"), in the 12th Ald. District. Written objections have not been filed by the licensee. (Committee Vote: 3 Ayes; 1 Noes; 1 Excused; Expiration Date: 6-30-00).
Recommendation of renewal with a 20-day suspension of the Class "B" Tavern license of Nancy M. Aschenbrenner for the premises located at 3278 S. 9th Place ("Asche's"), in the 14th Ald. District. Written objections have been filed by the licensee. (Committee Vote: 4 Ayes; 1 Noes; Expiration Date: 6-30-00).
The President questioned whether the members of the Common Council read the Report and Recommendations of the Utilities and Licenses Committee in these matters and any written exceptions, if filed by the licensees, including the additional pages regarding Aschenbrenner?
Ayes:15 - Ald. Herron, D'Amato, Bohl, Johnson-Odom, Gordon, Donovan, Richards, Cameron-Rollins, Scherbert, Sanchez, Pawlinski, Breier, Nardelli, Murphy and President Pratt.
Excused: 2 Henningsen and Hines.
The Clerk questioned whether the following applicants or their Counsel present and wish to address the Council:
Martin De La Garza.
The applicant was present and wished to address the Council.
The Clerk sworn in Martin De La Garza.
ALD. BOHL moved that the Common Council do now resolve into the Committee of the Whole for the purpose of hearing from
Mr. De La Garza relative to the foregoing matter.
PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
Martin De La Garza and Assistant City Attorney Bruce Schrimpf appeared and addressed the committee relative to the foregoing matter.
ALD JOHNSON-ODOM moved that the Committee do now rise.
The motion prevailed.
Juan J. Jimenez was not present.
Nancy M. Aschenbrenne was present and did not want to wish to address the Council.
ALD. BREIER moved to approve the Aschenbrenner license with a 15-day suspension notwithstanding the recommendation of the Utilities and Licenses Committee.
ALD. SCHERBERT moved that the Common Council do now resolve itself into the Committee of the Whole for the purpose of hearing from Assistant City Attorney Bruce Schrimpf relative to the foregoing matter.
PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
Assistant City Attorney Bruce Schrimpf appeared and addressed the committee relative to the foregoing matter.
ALD. SCHERBERT moved that the Committee do now rise.
ALD. BREIER moved to approve said license with a 15-day suspension.
The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: 12 - Ald. D'Amato, Bohl, Johnson-Odom, Gordon, Donovan, Cameron-Rollins, Scherbert, Pawlinski, Breier, Nardelli, Murphy and President Pratt.
Noes: 3 - Ald. Herron, Richards, Sanchez.
Excused: 2 - Ald. Henningsen and Hines.
ALD. PAWLINSKI moved for adoption of the foregoing Committee Report.
The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: 15 - Ald. Herron, D'Amato, Bohl, Johnson-Odom, Gordon, Donovan, Richards, Cameron-Rollins, Scherbert, Sanchez, Pawlinski, Breier, Nardelli, Murphy and President Pratt
