A substitute resolution relating to the Milwaukee Fire Department's acceptance and expenditure of a grant from Advanced Circulatory Systems, Inc.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) to accept and expend grant funds of $30,000 from Advanced Circulatory Systems, Inc. (ACSI). ACSI is providing this grant in exchange for services it will receive from the MFD in connection with its research study on victims of cardiac arrest. Common Council File Number 030982, adopted on November 25, 2003, authorized the agreement between the Milwaukee Fire Department and ACSI, but did not provide authority to accept and expend the grant funds.

Whereas, Common Council File Number 030982 was adopted on November 25, 2003, authorizing a one-year agreement between the Milwaukee Fire Department and Advanced Circulatory Systems, Inc. (ACSI); and

Whereas, ACSI, located at 7615 Golden Triangle Drive, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, is a company that researches, develops and markets innovative therapies for use in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and in the treatment of shock; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department would provide services to ACSI to assist it in the administration of its clinical research in the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, ACSI would provide a grant to the Fire Department in exchange for the services it receives from the City; and

Whereas, The grant would be used to purchase emergency medical services supplies and equipment; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Fire Department is authorized to accept and expend grant funds of $30,000 from Advanced Circulatory Systems, Inc. for the purchase of supplies and equipment, in accordance with established City policies; and, be it
