Analysis
This resolution authorizes the sale of vacant lots for construction of single-family homes pursuant to Section 304-49-17, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.
Body
Whereas, The Gorman Company has proposed to develop single-family, scattered site housing in the Metcalfe Park area by constructing rental homes using Federal affordable housing tax credits and then selling the units to the residents for homeownership after expiration of the federally required rental period; and

Whereas, Section 304-49-17 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances allows the City of Milwaukee (“City”) to accept unsolicited offers to purchase when the City receives fair compensation, whether monetary or non-monetary; and

Whereas, Sale of these lots will allow the Gorman Company to provide affordable rental housing with a commitment for future homeownership to qualified households and will provide the City with fair compensation through additional tax base and housing opportunities; and

Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) recommends sale of these lots with closing contingent on DCD approval of final site and building plans; and

Whereas, These lots will be sold in “as is” condition without representations or warranties including but not limited to soil quality and subsurface condition; and

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that these lots are surplus to municipal needs; now, therefore, be it
