Title

Substitute resolution relating to the City’s support for and participation in the Expanding Nature-Based Solutions Through the Urban Bird Treaty Program.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City’s participation in the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory’s “Expanding Nature-based Solutions through the Urban Bird Treaty Program (WI)”, and affirms the City’s support for the initiative.

 

Body

Whereas, The Lake Michigan Bird Observatory was founded to advance the conservation of birds in Wisconsin and throughout the western Great Lakes region; and

 

Whereas, The Lake Michigan Bird Observatory is submitting a proposal to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Coastal Resiliency program to develop a plan to enhance green infrastructure projects to benefit wildlife conservation in Milwaukee; and


Whereas, The Urban Bird Treaty is a collaborative program between the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and 31 cities that supports the conservation of birds that live in or migrate through urban areas; and


Whereas, Supporting the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory’s program will benefit conservation efforts in the city and aid a collaborative planning effort to establish Milwaukee as a designated Urban Bird Treaty city; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City declares its support for the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory’s “Expanding Nature Based Solutions through the Urban Bird Treaty Program (WI)”; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized to submit a letter of support substantially similar to the template included in this file.
