This resolution adds the Earn & Learn Fund to the list of organizations and funds that are participating recipients of donations in the City's future Combined Giving Campaigns.
Body
Whereas, The City's Combined Giving Campaign is an annual fund drive in which City employees pool their resources to improve the quality of life in the Milwaukee community by contributing to umbrella groups of local nonprofit agencies, individual agencies within those umbrella groups, various designated unaffiliated agencies or other qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide health or human services in Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Earn & Learn is designed to help young people make a successful transition from adolescence to adulthood by providing opportunities to develop work-readiness skills while they earn wages working in a variety of work settings; and
Whereas, The Earn & Learn Community Work Experience component is operated by the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board; and
Whereas, The Earn & Learn Fund is administered by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community foundation; and
Whereas, Earn & Learn is part of a regional effort to ensure the economic growth and vitality of the Milwaukee metropolitan area by preparing young people to successfully enter the future labor force; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are directed to take the actions necessary to ensure that the Earn & Learn Fund is included as a participating recipient of donations in future Combined Giving Campaigns.
