Analysis
This resolution authorizes the sale of a vacant lot for construction of a single-family home pursuant to Section 304-49-17, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.
Body
Whereas, By adoption of File No. 050942 on December 13, 2005, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee approved the sale of nine City-owned vacant lots to Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, Inc., a community-based organization, for construction of single-family homes that will be sold to qualified owner-occupants; and

Whereas, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, Inc., has offered to purchase for $1 an additional City-owned vacant lot at 2425-27 North 33rd Street (Tax Key No. 326-0903-000-2) to complete its home construction plans for the area; and

Whereas, Section 304-49-17 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances allows the City to accept unsolicited offers to purchase when the City of Milwaukee (“City”) receives fair compensation, whether monetary or non-monetary; and

Whereas, Sale of this lot will allow Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, Inc., to continue to provide affordable homeownership opportunities to low and moderate-income families and will provide the City with fair compensation though additional tax base and housing opportunities; and

Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) recommends sale of this lot with closing contingent on DCD approval of final site and building plans; and

Whereas, This lot will be sold in “as is” condition without representations or warranties including but not limited to soil quality and subsurface condition; and

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that this lot is surplus to municipal needs; now, therefore, be it
