Analysis
This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Milwaukee County Transit System for the design, construction, and coordination of City owned facilities along the MCTS East-West Bus Rapid Transit route. The Memorandum of Understanding provides for 100 percent MCTS funding for engineering and construction. The total estimated cost of this work is $560,000 with MCTS share of $560,000 and a City share of $0.

Body
WHEREAS, MCTS, in cooperation with the DPW, initiated in 2016, the East-West BRT project, Milwaukee County’s planned 9 mile, regional, modern transit service connecting major employment, education and recreation destinations through downtown Milwaukee, Milwaukee’s Near West Side, Marquette University, Wauwatosa and the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center; and,

WHEREAS, MCTS has developed a Locally Preferred Alternative Report dated August, 2016 ("LPA"); "Milwaukee County East-West BRT Small Starts Application" updated August 31, 2018 ("Application"); and Federal Transit Administration (“FTA”) Finding of No Significant Impact confirmation dated November 29, 2018; and,

WHEREAS, File No. 160254 resolved in part that the City of Milwaukee would work with Milwaukee County to determine areas where the use and development of exclusive lanes was not feasible or possible, and where BRT would therefore operate in mixed traffic; and
