This resolution directs Department of Public Works to identify a location and develop cost and feasibility estimates for establishing a third self-help drop-off center.
Body
Whereas, the Department of Public Works currently operates two main self-help drop-off centers for residents, located at 6660 N. Industrial Road and 3879 W. Lincoln Avenue, which experience heavy use and long wait times; and
Whereas, Residents across the city have expressed the need for additional self-help options, noting that the two existing centers are often crowded and not conveniently located for many neighborhoods, particularly in underserved areas; and
Whereas, The 2026 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 250001 on November 7, 2025; and
Whereas, Amendment 73 placed a footnote in the 2026 Budget directing Department of Public Works to develop a plan for incentivizing Department of Public Works employees to report illegal dumping activity.
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is directed to identify one additional potential location and develop a cost and feasibility estimate for establishing a third self-help drop-off center; now, therefore, be it
Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works shall provide a status report on this initiative to the Common Council within 90 days of adoption of this resolution.
