Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Health Department acts as the chief health strategist to advance and preserve public health in the city of Milwaukee; and,

 

Whereas, The field of public health is transitioning to a “Public Health 3.0” framework of practice that emphasizes cross-sector collaborative efforts focused on fundamental factors that influence health across populations; and,

 

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Health Department has will implement the Public Health 3.0 approach to public health initiatives and programs; and

 

Whereas, The Health Department’s successful implementation of Public Health 3.0 and the MKE Elevate community health improvement plan require wide-ranging and constructive community partnerships and participation; and

 

Whereas, Providing in-kind or paid sponsorship of the Health Department to community education programs focused on key public health topics advances the goals and strategies of the MKE Elevate community health improvement plan; and,

 

Whereas, MHD’s appropriated funds in the City budget or from grant awards may be used to provide sponsorship and support of such programs in alignment with the MKE Elevate plan; now, therefore be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Health and appropriate City officials are authorized until June 30, 2030 to negotiate and execute agreements for sponsorship of community education and engagement programs that support and advance public health goals.
