- Analysis -
This ordinance prohibits unnecessary sounding of railroad whistles and horns except as provided by state law. The prohibition does not apply in situations involving imminent peril or danger to life or property. Each violation is punishable by a forfeiture of $100 to $500.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 105-91 of the code is created to read:
105-91. Unnecessary Sounding of Railroad Whistles and Horns Prohibited. 1. No railroad company or any of its agents or employes shall sound or cause to be sounded any whistle or horn within the city except as otherwise provided by statute or sub. 2.
2. The prohibition of this section does not apply to the sounding of railroad whistles or horns as a signal or warning in situations involving fire, collision or other imminent peril or danger to life or property.
3. Any person who violates this section is subject to a forfeiture of $100 to $500 for each violation.
