Analysis
The Department of Public Works periodically initiates utility (electric, water, heating, air conditioning and ventilation) outages in the City Hall complex for maintenance and upgrades of equipment. This resolution requires Common Council approval before the Department of Public Works initiates utility outages in the City Hall complex.
Body
Whereas The Department of Public Works (DPW) periodically initiates utility outages in the City Hall complex (City Hall, 809 N. Broadway and 841 N. Broadway) for maintenance and upgrades of equipment; and
Whereas, Such utility outages may have an impact on the duties City departments are required to perform; and
Whereas, In order to ensure that City departments are able to perform their required duties, it would be in the best interests of the City Milwaukee for the Common Council to authorize a DPW-initiated utility outage in the City Hall complex; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is required to have, except in emergencies, Common Council authorization before DPW initiates a utility outage in the City Hall complex.
