Analysis
The resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to solicit bids and award a contract for solid waste and recycling services and to hire a consultant to prepare documents for the bidding of municipal solid waste and recycling services.
Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Solid Waste and Recycling Contracts are due to expire on June 30, 2004; and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works has thoroughly reviewed the options available to the Department of Public Works for procuring solid waste and recycling services; and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works believes it is necessary to hire a consultant with solid waste expertise to assist in the preparation of contract documents to ensure that bid documents meet all technical and regulatory requirements; and
Whereas, It is in the best interest of the City of Milwaukee to advertise for competitive bids for solid waste and recycling services and to award the contract to the provider with the lowest responsive and competent bid; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to solicit bids and award a contract for solid waste and recycling services, and is further authorized to hire a consultant to assist in the preparation of contract documents for the bidding of solid waste and recycling services.
