This resolution authorizes the Community Relations - Social Development Commission to exercise administrative and supervisory functions with respect to the Weed and Seed programs funded by the United States Departments of Housing and Urban Development and Justice and the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice for 1996, 1997, 1998 and authorizes the Block Grant Director to execute contracts on behalf of the City of Milwaukee with the Community Relations - Social Development Commission. _______________________________________________________

BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has received funding for the Weed and Seed grant activity from the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Grants numbered: 95-DD-BX-0092; 96-WS-QX-0011; 97-WS-QX-0034; and

Whereas, The Common Council in CCFN 971831 and CCFN 971832 has approved the application, acceptance and funding for the 1998 Community Security Partnerships Grant and the 1998 Weed and Seed Expansion Grant, respectively, for weed and seed and safe haven activity from the U. S. Department of Justice, (referred to, collectively with the DOJ grants listed above, as the "DOJ funds"); and

Whereas, The Common Council in CCFN 970937 has approved Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for output "City 3A" in the amount of $265,000 for 1998 Weed and Seed Program administration and safe haven activity (referred to as the "HUD funds"); and

Whereas, The Common Council in CCFN 971883 has approved the submission of application for State of Wisconsin Weed and Seed funds...
