Resolution relative to acceptance of a Wisconsin Homeland Security Grant for Critical Infrastructure Protection Costs Reimbursement to the Milwaukee Water Works. (Water Works)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Water Works to apply for and accept grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Office of Justice Assistance, Wisconsin Homeland Security Program, to reimburse the Water Works for additional costs incurred during two periods of Orange Alert in March through May 2003.
Body
Whereas, The State of Wisconsin, Office of Justice Assistance, Wisconsin Homeland Security Program made available funds to reimburse municipal government entities for additional costs incurred during the periods of March 17, 2003 to April 16, 2003 and May 20, 2003 to May 30, 2003, when the national threat level was raised to Orange Alert; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is eligible for these reimbursement funds; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Water Works incurred additional expenses totaling $27,932.73 for additional security guards at the water treatment plants during this period; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Water Works is authorized and directed to apply for and accept a Wisconsin Homeland Security Grant for Critical Infrastructure Protection Costs in the amount of $27,932.73 and is authorized without further approval, unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2003 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled "Water Works Critical Infrastructure Protection Cost Reimbursement Program".
