Analysis
This resolution implements a footnote within the 2007 City Budget reserving $40,000 within the Outside Counsel/Expert Witness Special Purpose Account for the purpose of retaining outside legal counsel to assist the City Attorney, Common Council and Police Department in abating public nuisance activities.

This resolution authorizes expenditure of the reserved $40,000 upon submission by the City Attorney, and approval by the Common Council, of a proposed contract or other document designating the outside counsel to be retained and the proposed terms of the retainer.
Body
Whereas, A footnote to the 2007 City Budget special purpose account entitled Outside Counsel/Expert Witness reserves $40,000 within the $225,000 budgeted for such account; and

Whereas, The reserved $40,000 is for outside counsel to assist the City Attorney, Common Council and Police Department in abating public nuisances; and

Whereas, No expenditure may be made of the reserved $40,000 without approval of the Common Council; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $40,000 of the funds reserved by Common Council amendment to the 2007 City Budget within the Outside Counsel/Expert Witness Fund Special Purpose Account shall be expended by the City Attorney for costs reasonably and necessarily related to the retention of outside counsel to assist the City in nuisance abatement activities; and, be it
