- Analysis -

This resolution directs the Department of City Development to initiate a vacation proceeding under power granted to the City of Milwaukee by Section 66.297(1), Wisconsin Statutes, and S.81-116.2 of the Milwaukee City Code.

BODY:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Board of School Directors have declared surplus public land at the Northeast corner of West Burleigh Street and North 24th Street so that it may be used by the Milwaukee Police Athletic League, Inc. for a community center; and

Whereas, To provide a complete site for this center, the vacation of an unimproved alley is necessary; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of City Development is directed to prepare a resolution to vacate an unimproved alley located generally North of West Burleigh Street and East of North 24th Street; and, be it

Further Resolved, That upon receipt of the resolution to vacate, the Department of City Development is authorized and directed to initiate all steps necessary to review and evaluate the vacation of this alley.
