Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of PublicWorks to execute the Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming of the Holton Street Initiative. The project will be funded 80 percent by CMAQ funds, with the remaining 20 percent being paid by City funds.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has actively promoted the expansion of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and

Whereas, North Holton Street has been identified as a location that links several near north side neighborhoods with downtown; and

Whereas, The Holton Street Initiative is a proposed project which creates a more pedestrian and bicycle friendly atmosphere on this important roadway link; and

Whereas, The Holton Street Initiative will encourage residents of these neighborhoods to walk and bike to work and other destinations; and

Whereas, Bicycle and pedestrian projects such as the Holton Street Initiative are eligible for the state's CMAQ program; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee applied for CMAQ funds to undertake the Holton Street Initiative; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has approved this application and submitted a Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for the programming of the project with federal aid under the CMAQ program; now, therefore, be it
