Substitute resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Fire Department to enter into an agreement with United HealthCare in connection with Community Paramedic services.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) to enter into an agreement with United HealthCare (UHC) in connection with Community Paramedic services and the Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) Program as it relates to UHC members. It further authorizes the proper City officials to enter into this memorandum of understanding.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department has implemented the Mobile Integrated Health Program to be proactive in its delivery of medical services to the citizens of Milwaukee by scheduling medical visits to the City’s most at-risk population in an effort to reduce unnecessary 9-1-1 calls and BLS and ALS transports; and
Whereas, Community Paramedic professionals are trained in using the core modules from the North Central EMS Institute’s Community Paramedic Curriculum; and
Whereas, the Milwaukee Fire Department will attempt to locate, enroll and engage UHC members into the MIH program; and
Whereas, the Milwaukee Fire Department will invoice UHC a total program cost not to exceed $1,800 per member without the approval of UHC; and
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the attached agreement between the City of Milwaukee Fire Department and UnitedHealthcare of Wisconsin, Inc. to commence community paramedic services to UHC members, or a version substantively similar, and subject to such changes as the City Attorney may approve in negotiation with UHC, is approved; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized to enter into this Agreement on behalf of the City of Milwaukee.
